Brotherly Love: the beginning

"Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor." - Romans 12:10

Z and G,

I love holding you. I love cuddling your sweet little heads close to my face, hearing you say my name or reach for me, watching you fall asleep to the sound of my voice... but one of my favorite things to see in you these just-shy-of-16-month-old days, is true affection for one another. 1 John 4:7 says, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God." Having a loving relationship with my 2-years-younger baby sister, friend, MOH, has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. My earliest memory is going to meet her at the hospital, and I don't have many childhood memories that weren't shared with her. Twinsies, being born together is such an intentional gift from God! You shared the short time you had with your birth parents, you were together in your wait for Mommy and Daddy to come get you, you have one another for all of the cooing and copying that goes on these days, and the laughter, mischief, and growing that lies ahead. What a joy it is to watch as it seems you're figuring that out on your own. This week you started holding hands, completely unprompted by us. (You even bring joy to others by loving each other well.) Mommy and Daddy's prayer is that the blessing of sharing this life will only increase as you grow closer and support one another for the rest of your days.

Happy Father's Day

"We love because He first loved us."
-1 John 4:19

A love like the Father's love; that's what my babies know. They have a daddy who seeks God, knows Him, and emulates Him. What more could any Mama wish for her kids? This long-winded, detail-driven girl has nothing more to say than that. Cary, I'm so thankful to be your wife, and to celebrate the joy that comes from seeing my children delight in being loved by you.
Happy Father's Day.

Dear Aunt Katherine...

Dear Aunt Katherine,

You've been gone for leadership project for a week now. We're real proud of you being a project director and all, and you probably have lots of new things to tell us about already, but we miss you. We have lots of updates for you!

Like....

We're living in a new house for two months! And it has a GREAT swing in the front yard.

Mom is probably ruining our taste buds, but we think we really like lime popsicles.

We've been helping mom in the kitchen a lot lately. There's lots to play with!

Take a good look at these grins, because we are both cutting two more top teeth!

We spend lots of time at our new piano that Daddy got Mommy for Mother's Day.

(In the big scheme of things, we are still pretty small, huh?)

Here we are geared up in our tractors and air planes to go visit Grandad!

And finally, below is a skill we are always perfecting. Coincidentally, it's also how we feel about you leaving us for a whole summer:

We are looking forward to your updates -send pictures! Also, we love you!
