Brotherly Love: the beginning

"Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor." - Romans 12:10

Z and G,

I love holding you. I love cuddling your sweet little heads close to my face, hearing you say my name or reach for me, watching you fall asleep to the sound of my voice... but one of my favorite things to see in you these just-shy-of-16-month-old days, is true affection for one another. 1 John 4:7 says, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God." Having a loving relationship with my 2-years-younger baby sister, friend, MOH, has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. My earliest memory is going to meet her at the hospital, and I don't have many childhood memories that weren't shared with her. Twinsies, being born together is such an intentional gift from God! You shared the short time you had with your birth parents, you were together in your wait for Mommy and Daddy to come get you, you have one another for all of the cooing and copying that goes on these days, and the laughter, mischief, and growing that lies ahead. What a joy it is to watch as it seems you're figuring that out on your own. This week you started holding hands, completely unprompted by us. (You even bring joy to others by loving each other well.) Mommy and Daddy's prayer is that the blessing of sharing this life will only increase as you grow closer and support one another for the rest of your days.
